With the goal to provide students in Gr. 10, 11 and 12 Communications Technology, along with members of Chaminade’s Film Club an authentic opportunity to produce in-class work for an industry setting, IGNITE, is held annually at Yorkdale Silver City.
With original student produced commercials, movie trailers, short films, animations and print media (movie posters, program publication, magazine covers etc.) on display and projected onto the big theatrical screens, the Chaminade community comes together with industry partners and special guests to celebrate student achievement on a grand stage.
With a commitment to experiential learning, students in Comm-Tech work regularly with leading academics and film, graphic design and social media communications industry leaders. From producing posters for Disney Canada (an exclusive Chaminade opportunity) to taking part in Skype lectures with film professionals, the Communications Technology program at Chaminade is a leader is providing students with a truly enriched experience.

Meeting each Thursday after school, The Chaminade Film Club (aka. Chaminade Film Society) welcomes all students who have an interest in film, popular culture and media arts.
With a focus on film appreciation (screening of classic, independent and block buster films) to field trips and importantly the production of student made projects, the film club provides students with an opportunity to collaborate and create outside of the classroom environment.
